Today, we are looking at the Christopher Reeve Superman figure from McFarlane Toys, This figure is MaFarlanes' take on how Christoper Reeve looked in the '78 Superman movie. PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

Let’s delve into the details of this figure box. The box boasts a large window, providing a clear view of the figure and its accompanying accessories. This window also reveals the figure’s remarkable 22 points of articulation, allowing for a wide range of poses and expressions. The McFarlane Collector Edition logo adorns the left side of the box. The bottom of the box features the DC Multiverse logo and Superman’s name. As we rotate the box, we encounter additional information. The DC Multiverse logo, the figure’s name, and its origin, Superman: The Movie (1978), are prominently displayed. This information provides valuable context for collectors and enthusiasts. The back of the box offers a captivating movie promo picture of Superman, a striking image that also graces the trading card included within the box. Turning the box one final time, we discover a small window that offers a sneak peek of the figure, tantalizing our curiosity and anticipation.

INSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.

Opening the box, we can see that Superman comes in a plastic shell along with all his accessories. The cardboard insert behind the plastic has the trading card and the flight stand.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking our new Superman out of the box, we can see that McFarlane did such a great job on this guy. The colors are bright, just like in the movies. The head sculpt was also well done. I feel like this is one of McFarlane's best-looking Superman figures. The wired cape also makes this figure feel just a little bit extra.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Superman comes with an alternate evil head (Superman 3), left and right grabbing hands, left and right open hands, left and right flying hands, right pointing hand, and left hand holding Kryptonite.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SUPERMAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

Dumbbell-joined neck: Enables 360-degree head rotation.

Butterfly hinge: Allows shoulder movement in front and back, improving range of motion.

Ball-hinged shoulders: Provide 360-degree arm rotation and raise/lower capabilities.

Upper bicep swivel: Allows the entire arm below the cut to rotate 360 degrees.

Double-joined elbow: Enables over 90-degree arm bending.

Ball swivel hinged wrist: Allows 360-degree wrist rotation, bending up and down simultaneously.

Diagram swivel: Enables 360-degree figure rotation at the diaphragm.

Ball-joined wrist: Allows 360-degree figure rotation at the waist.

Hinged-jointed leg: Enables side-to-side movement, along with front and back motion.

Double-joined knees: Allow the leg to bend back to the buttock of the figure.

Ball-joined ankle: Enables front and back bending, as well as left and right bending.

Toe joint allow: Bending the toes for better posing, mimicking running or walking movements.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Superman stands right around the 7-inch mark. For size comparison, we have our new Superman standing next to the Action Comics and Classic Superman. Next, we have him standing next to the Adam West Batman and Michael Keaton Batman from the Flash Movie.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint on this Superman is very well done. The logo on the cape really makes the figure.

FIGURE SCULPT 4.5/5 - The head sculpt is so well done, and the fabric cape is such an improvement on the figure, however, it is still the same old forearm with the wrist braclets on it.

POSING 3.5/5 - You still can't get him into a good flying pose since the head doesn't go up

ACCESSORIES: 4.5/5 - I would have loved a punching hand or two for him

DURABILITY 4.5/5 - The plastic is strong, and the joints move so much better than they did in the original figure.

OVERALL SCORE 4.4/5 - If you are a fan of Superman and, even more importantly, Christopher Reeve, then this guy is a must grab for anyone.

RETAIL COST: $29.99
