This week we are going to take a look at something a little bit different. Today's review is of the mini Batman Cowl Collection from McFarlane Toys. This new line of 7-inch scaled cowls will be taking different Batman cowls from the years and comic storylines and giving them to us in plastic form. McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane that makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.
PACKAGING:
Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.
The new Batman Cowls will all come in the same kind of box, a rectangle-style black box. The DC Direct/McFarlane Toys logos are in the top right of the box. The Cowl is displayed in the middle with Batman's name and where the Cowl is from at the bottom. The side of the box has the Batman '66 logo since this is Adam West Cowl along with his name in the middle. The back of the box has a nice picture of Adam West as Batman from the TV show. The other side of the box again has the '66 logo with Batman's name running down the side. We also get a wrap-around of the plastic front, this is great for any collector who wishes to keep the Cowl mint in the box.
INSIDE OF THE BOX:
Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.
Taking the Cowl out of the box we can see that McFarlane has used plastic zip ties to keep the Cowl safe. The cardboard backing is yellow and has a ton of pictures of Batman through the years.
OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:
Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.
Taking The Cowl out of the plastic prison, we can see all the details the McFarlane Toys has put into this replica. While it does feel a little bit too plastic-like, I feel like a black wash would have made more of the details pop.
SIZE COMPARISON:
How does the size of this figure compare to others?
The Cowl stands about 7 inches tall when on the stand. Here is the Cowl next to the Adam West McFarlane Batman we had just looked at.
RATING:
What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?
Overall for $15, you can't complain too much. It is a nice little Cowl replica that I will enjoy putting on my shelf.
RETAIL COST: $14.99
