Welcome back to Toying Around! For 2025, we’re excited to introduce a new format: short videos for each section. Our first review of the year will be the NECA Shredder Krang. This version of Shredder and Krang resembles their early appearances in the Archie comic book series. Krang had Bellybomb attach itself to Shredder’s head, restoring his body. NECA, a New Jersey-based company founded in 1996, is a leading manufacturer of collectibles licensed from various entertainment sources, including films, video games, sports, music, and television. With over 60 licenses, NECA produces a wide range of products that cater to collectors.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

The front of the box features the iconic Nickelodeon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and NECA logos. The NECA logo cleverly resembles the old Archie comic box, paying homage to the comic book series on which this figure is based. Shredder and all his accessories are prominently displayed in the center of the packaging. The TMNT Adventures logo and Shredder’s name are elegantly placed at the bottom. Flipping the box to the side, we’re greeted with some captivating comic book artwork featuring Slash. The back of the box offers a glimpse into the action poses of Shredder, accompanied by a tantalizing sneak peek of upcoming figures. Finally, turning the box over once more, we reveal the side of Shredder from within the box, complemented by more enchanting cartoon artwork.

INSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.

Shredder’s accessories are meticulously packed in a plastic clamshell tray. Everything is securely zip-tied inside the clamshell to prevent any loose items from escaping. Behind the clamshell, there’s a comic book-style artwork depicting Dimension X, where Krang was sent. This thoughtful touch adds an extra layer of detail to the box presentation.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Shredder Krang out of the box we get to see all the details NECA put into this guy, We have a new Krang head as well as a new Shredder body, this isn't the same body that was used with the Cartoon Shredder we got some years ago now. The comic book shading on the body looks better to me than the TV shading we get.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Shredder Krang comes with a new Shredder head, left and right gripping hands, left and right open hands, left and right clawed hands, a bladed staff, and a bonsai tree.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

SHREDDER’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

MUSHROOM PEGGED HEAD: This allows you to turn the head 360 degrees around

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS: provide 360-degree arm rotation and raise/lower capabilities.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL: allows the entire arm below the cut to rotate 360 degrees..

SINGLE JOINTED ELBOWS: This allows you to bend the arm about 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS: It allows you to be able to turn his wrist in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL: enables 360-degree figure rotation at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED LEGS: enable side-to-side movement, along with front and back motion.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES: allow the leg to bend back to the buttock of the figure.

BOOT CUT: This cut lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

ANKLE SWIVEL: The ankle swivel lets you turn the feet a full 360 degrees..

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Our new Shredder stands a little under 7.5 inches tall. Here is our new Shredder standing with our Cartoon Shredder and Cartoon Krang in his Android body, next up we have Shredder standing with a Cartoon Leo.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint on The Shredder is done very well. I do feel like they captured the look and feel of the old Archie comic book.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - Like with the paint the look and design of this new Shredder is very well done. We are set to get a new cartoon Shredder later this year, I do hope he is made on the body buck.

POSING 3.5/5 - You can get him in some good poses, however, the pads on his shoulders do hinder the movement a little bit.

ACCESSORIES: 4.5/5 - an unmasked Shredder head would have made this perfect.

DURABILITY 3.5/5 - The plastic is so much better than it used to be a few years ago, NECA has been killing it as of late, and the figures don't feel as brittle.

OVERALL SCORE 4.3/5 - If you are a fan of the Archie comics series or even just Shredder, I would say hunt on down and pick him up.

RETAIL COST: $34.96
