For this week’s review, we’re excited to explore a new Deluxe line from Super 7. This line takes their older Ultimates figures, removes almost all accessories, and reduces the price by a few bucks. Most Ultimates figures typically cost around $50, while these Deluxe figures are priced at $40. So, is it worth spending $10 less on just the figure and one accessory? Let’s find out!
PACKAGING:
Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.
The packaging for this new line of Transformers Deluxe figures is quite unique. It resembles a VHS tape box, with the Transformers logo prominently displayed on the top and the Super 7 logo below. A circle logo indicates that this product is exclusive to Macy's. Optimus Prime’s name is positioned to the right, followed by “Vol. 1: The Return of Optimus Prime.” The middle of the box features the same image used on the VHS box for the same two-part episode. Turning the box to the side, we see Optimus’ name at the top, followed by a picture of Optimus from the G1 action figure box. The Transformers logo is centered, and at the bottom, we find the Super 7 Deluxe logo. Turning the box to the back, we encounter the Transformers logo again, accompanied by a brief description of Optimus Prime. Finally, moving the box around, we find the closed end with a Super 7 sticker, confirming that this figure has remained untouched.
INSIDE OF THE BOX:
Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.
Inside the box, you’ll find our new Optimus Prime, just waiting to be released from his plastic prison. The box opens up like an old VHS-style box, revealing the figure in all its glory.
OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:
Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.
Outside the box, you’ll notice that Super 7 has done an incredible job on the look of Optimus. He looks like he stepped straight out of the cartoon, with vibrant and eye-catching colors.
ACCESSORIES:
Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.
The only accessory that comes with Optimus Prime is his Iron Blaster.
ARTICULATION:
How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!
OPTIMUS PRIMES'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - This allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.
BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.
UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.
SINGLE JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm less than 90 degrees.
SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to be able to turn the figure's wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this, it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.
SIZE COMPARISON:
How does the size of this figure compare to others?
Optimus Prime stands approximately 8 inches tall. For comparison, I’ve placed him next to my G1 Optimus Prime and Optimus from the Earthrise line. Additionally, I’ve positioned him alongside the only other Super 7 figure I own, The Green Rangers from the MMPR line.
RATING:
What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?
PAINT JOB 4/5- The paint job is decent, considering it’s an animated figure. However, a small wash could have enhanced the details significantly.
FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The figure looks fantastic, almost as if it were straight out of the original G1 cartoon.
POSING 3/5 - My only major issue with the figure is the arm bend. It’s not even a 90-degree bend.
ACCESSORIES 1/5 - The figure comes with only a blaster, which is disappointing. Considering the price difference between this figure and the Ultimates one, which includes numerous accessories, it’s a bit of a letdown.
DURABILITY 4/5 - The plastic is sturdy, and I don’t anticipate this figure breaking anytime soon.
OVERALL SCORE 3.5/5 - The figure is decent, but it’s not worth the $40 price tag. The Ultimates one, which costs $5 more, offers a much better value with its extensive accessories and toy-styled head sculpt.
