Toying Around Reviews - Batman vs TMNT Batman/Leonardo two-pack: Batman

Writer's picture: Baby HueyBaby Huey

Today we will be taking a look at Leonardo from the GameStop exclusive Batman vs the TMNT two-pack from DC Collectibles. This two-pack is based on the Batman vs TMNT animated movie that was released earlier this year.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Leo and Batman come in the same style of two-pack that the rest of the figures in this line come in. The top of the box has the Only @ GameStop sticker. Leo and Batman are displayed in the middle with all the accessories visible. The bottom of the box has the Batman vs TMNT logo on the left and the names of the figures on the right side. Turning the box to the side we get a turtle shell, the middle also lets us know that Batman has been sculpted by Paul Harding and Leo was sculpted by Johnathan Matthews. Turning the box to the back we get a product shot of Leo and Batman along with the story “When a new menace in Gotham City begins stealing experimental technology, Batman is put on high alert, but a new team of warriors lurking beneath the streets is also on the case: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Led by Leonardo, these brothers - brainy Donatello, fearless Raphael, and wisecracking Michelangelo - are mysterious martial artists on a collision course with the Dark Knight. Based on the hit DC Comics crossover, Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a high-flying, pulse-pounding adventure the likes of which Gotham has never seen!“ The Bottom of the box gives us a look at the rest of the two packs. Robin & Raphael, Batgirl & Donatello, Alfred & Michelangelo and Ra’s Al Ghul & Shredder. Turning the box to the other side you have a good look at the side of Leo, This is nice for our friends who like to keep the figures mint in the box.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Batman out of the box we get a very good look at his animated look from the movie. Batman is done in grey and blue plastic with a blue soft goods cape. The Cape is a little bit heavier than I was expecting it to be since it is just cloth.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

BATMAN COMES WITH: a set of closed-fisted hands a set of gripping hands a set of bat-a-rang holding hands one Bat-a-rang grapple gun closed grapple open grapple bat tracker a slice of pizza

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BATMAN'S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

BALL JOINTED NECK allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees. BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm. SINGLE JOINTED ELBOWS this gets you just about a 90-degree bend. SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down. BALL JOINTED LEGS This allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion. DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES joint allows you to bend the leg itself all the way back to the butt of the figure. HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Batman stands about 6.5 inches tall, his ears make him come in just a hair under 7 inches. Here is Batman standing next to his fellow box mate Leonardo and the Marvel 80th Anniversary Iron Man.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 The paint job on this figure is spot on, It makes him look animated and that he came right out of the movie. FIGURE SCULPT / POSING 5/5 The sculpting on the figure is nicely done. This Batman didn’t have a complex look so it was easy to move him from the animated world to the toy world. DURABILITY 4/5 The figure is pretty solid. My figure, however, has a very loose right elbow swivel and it does make it a little hard when trying to pose the figure. OVERALL SCORE 4.66/5 Batman is a really fun figure. The only downside is that his right elbow is very loose, I’m sure this only with my copy. That aside he is great. RETAIL COST: $49.99 You can only get the two-packs at GAMESTOP.
