Toying Around Reviews - DC Multiverse: Batman (Flash Movie)

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at the new Michael Keaton Batman figure, as he will look in the upcoming Flash movie. McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Starting at the front of the box, we have a nice big window that lets us see the figure and everything he comes with. The top of the box also lets us know that the figure has 22 points of articulation. The bottom of the box has the DC Multiverse logo as well as The Flash movie logo since this is a movie-based figure as well as Batman's name at the bottom. Turning the box to the side we have the Flash Movie logo at the top, Batman's name as well as letting us know he is from the Multiverse. The back of the box gives us some artwork of Batman, the same artwork that is used on the trading card inside the box as well. Turning the box around one more time we get a small window that lets us see the figure.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Batman out of the box we do get a good like at this costume that Batman will be wearing in the Flash movie. The fabric cap is nice because now he can fit into the Batmobile. The head sculpt is well done. I can really see Michael Keaton. The only real downside to my figure is the bat logo is a little slanted.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Batman comes with a grapnel gun and a Bat-a-rang. Left and Right closed fists. His trading card, and his Display stand.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

BATMAN’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

DUMBBELL JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - These give the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

BALL SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - With this, you can turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

DIAPHRAGM SWIVEL - This lets you turn the figure around 360 degrees at the diaphragm.

BALL JOINTED WAIST - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

HINGE JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BALL JOINTED ANKLES - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back and also to the left and right.

TOE JOINT - This allows you to bend the toes up so you can pose the figure a little better when making him look like he is running or walking.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Our new Batman stands a little shy of 7.5 inches tall. Here he is with Detective Comics #1000 from McFarlane and 89 Batman from Mattel right before the line moved over to McFarlane Toys. Lastly, we have Batman standing next to all the live-action Batman figures from McFarlane that I have.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5 - The only paint on the guy is yellow in the logo and the face. There is some extra green paint on the boots. That should have been left off, so knocking off point for that.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The sculpt looks very spot on from what we have seen in the trailers of the Flash movie.

POSING 5/5 - I can get Batman into every pose I want to, and unlike the real Bat suit this Batman can turn his head lol.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - Todd gave us some nice-sized Bat-a-rang not one that is way oversized and falls out of the hands. They are perfect.

DURABILITY 5/5 - The plastic as always is very good and I don't feel like the figure is going to brake or snap on me.

OVERALL SCORE 4.8/5 - I know some will be upset that he can turn his head and I know some don't like the new suit, but I think it looks really good and I'm happy to have it in my collection.

RETAIL COST: $22.99
