Toying Around Reviews - Disney Mirrorverse: Genie

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

Today we are taking a look at Genie from the new Disney Mirrorverse line from McFarlane Toys. Disney Mirrorverse is a crossover mobile role-playing game that was just released by KABAM. The game features evolved and amplified versions of Disney and Pixar characters and combine RPG with combat and fighting gameplay. McFarlane Toys, a subsidiary of Todd McFarlane Productions, is a company founded by comics creator Todd McFarlane which makes highly detailed model figurines of characters from movies, comics, popular music, video games, and various sporting genres.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Genie comes packed in what has been the typical sized box for McFarlane Toys 7-inch scale figures. The front of the box has a large Disney Mirrorverse logo at the top, Genie is displayed in the middle of the box with his name at the bottom. Next to his name is “TANK” as Genie will be a tank attack type player in the video game. Turning the box around we get some CGI artwork of Genie, this is how he will look in the game. At the bottom, we again have his name with Tank, letting us know he is a Tank attack player. On the back of the box, we have some nice artwork of some more upcoming figures, do you have any guesses on who else might be coming to the line? Below the picture, we have a picture of the trading card that is inside the box. The bottom of the box lets us know that you can get the game on IOS or android. Moving the box around one more time we get some more CGI artwork of Genie.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Genie we get to look at this new look for him. He has more of an Arabian look to him. Now that I have gotten a chance to play the game I can see this is how Genie looks in the game. The base was also a nice touch because it lets him stand easily.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

The only thing Genie comes with is a trading card that gives you some of his in-game stats.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

GENIE’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: MUSHROOM JOINTED NECK: allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

SWIVEL BALL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn the figure's wrist in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Genie stands 8 inches tall, to the top of his hair. Here is Genie standing next to Buzz from this 7-inch Mirrowverse line. Next here is Genie standing next to the Genie from the Disney ToyBox line.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint on my figure is perfect, there are no issues at all with him

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 The overall sculpt of the figure is very well done. He looks like he came right out of the video game

POSING 3.5/5 - At the top of the figure, you can get a lot of poses out of it, however, from the waist down you can not really do anything with him.

ACCESSORIES: 3/5 - The only thing he really comes with is the trading card. I don’t count the base with him since you need it to make him stand. Mabe some magic effects would have been nice to add.

DURABILITY 5/5 - This figure overall has better plastic than the Buzz figure. I don’t feel like he is going to break at all.

OVERALL SCORE 4.5/5 - This guy is really cool. If you liked the Buzz figure, or how Genie looks in the game he should be the one you pick up.

RETAIL COST: $19.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT ENTERTAINMENT EARTH!

TIME FOR SOME TOYING AROUND!!
