Toying Around Reviews - Disney's Marvel Toy Box: Wolverine

Today we will be taking a look at the Wolverine Figure from the Disney Exclusive Marvel Toy Box Line. There are now four different subcategories, PIXAR, STAR WARS, MARVEL, AND DISNEY, and the only place to get the figure is on Disney’s website or at your local Disney Store.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

The Marvel Toy Box figures come in a standard-size blister card. At the top, you have the Disney Store exclusive logo with the Marvel Toy Box Logo running down the left side of the box. Wolverine is clearly displayed inside the blister card. At the bottom right, you have Wolverine’s name along with the number 19, that’s because this is the 19th figure in the Marvel line. Turning the box to the side you have a clear side look at Wolverine and some of his accessories. This is perfect for collectors who wish to keep the figure mint inside the box. On the back of the box, we have pictures of some other new figures, Captain Marvel and Wolverine. The picture for Spider-Man has the Spider-Man Far From Home logo above, as this figure is based on his look in the movie. Flipping the box around one more time we have some artwork of Wolverine.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Wolverine out of the box we get a good look at the bright yellow and deep blue colors they used on him. The figure really does pop.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

WOLVERINE COMES WITH: An unmasked head. a cowboy hat. sword and sheath.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

WOLVERINE’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: MUSHROOM PEGGED HEAD It allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees. BALL-JOINTED SHOULDERS Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm. SINGLE-JOINTED SWIVEL ELBOWS The single joint allows for a 90-degree bend at the elbow. The swivel in the elbow allows for a complete 360-degree rotation of the lower arm. WAIST SWIVEL this lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist. HINGED LEGS with this joint, you can move the legs out to the side along with some front and back motion. SINGLE JOINTED KNEES This joint, although limited, allows you to bend the knees. The bend is less than 90 degrees. HINGED ANKLES The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. CLAWS Both claws on his hands can move in and out.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Wolverine stands right around the 5-inch mark. Here is Wolverine standing next to a 6-inch Marvel Legends Wolverine.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure? PAINT JOB 4/5 The paint job is nice, however, there is a lot of paint spots on the figure where there shouldn’t be. FIGURE SCULPT / POSING 4/5 The sculpt just seems a little off to me, and the claw on his left arm is stuck and won’t move. I tried to warm it up in some hot water and it still didn’t move, I think it might have been glued by mistake DURABILITY 4/5 I do feel like down the road all the joints will become looser over time. OVERALL SCORE 4/5 Sometimes these Disney figures are hit or miss with the way they are made. Wolverine is almost a hit, a little bit better paintwork, and claws that can move on both hands and we have a winner. RETAIL COST: $12.95 You can only get the Toy Box figures from DISNEY.
