Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: Avengers GamerVerse - Captain America

Today we will be taking a look at Gamerverse Captain America. This Captain America look is based on the upcoming Avengers video game from Square Enix that is releasing September 4th, 2020. The Marvel Legends Series is a Mid-Tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. With multiple scales ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches and a good mix of detail and articulation, these figures tend to look good both inside and outside of the box.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Captain America comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends GamerVerse white box. At the top of the box, you have the Abomination Build-A-Figure logo, as He is the figure for this wave. The Marvel GamerVerse logo is right below that. Captain America is displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as his accessories. This gives great visibility for collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the Marvel Avengers logo from the game. At the very bottom, we have Captain America’s name. On the left side of the box, we get some nice artwork from The whole Avengers team that is in the game. On the back of the box, you have a picture of Captain America along with a small bio, Injected with an experimental soldier serum, Steve Rogers has the peak potential of strength endurance, and dexterity. Below that we have a picture of Abomination along with the rest of the figures in this wave, Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Mar-Vel, Mach-1, Rage, and The Leader. Flipping the box to the right side now, you see we get the same artwork that is on the left side.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Cap out of the box we can see the armor that he is using is more like real-world inspired armor. It's kind of like a swat team armor. The armor though does look like how it does in the Avengers Video Game previews that we have seen.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Captain America only comes with his Shield.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

CAPTAIN AMERICA’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: HINGED BALL JOINTED NECK - allows you to swivel the head 360 degrees and tilt the head back and forth.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm back to have the hands near the shoulders.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

BOOT CUT - This lets you swivel the boot around 360 degrees.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Captain America stands right around the 6.5-inch mark. Here is Cap standing next to the Avengers End Game Cap.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5 - The paint job is nice, however, a little more paint on the buckles and other smaller items on the figure would have been nice.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - The overall sculpt of the figure is nice, it does look like how he does in the upcoming video game.

POSING 4/5 - The only real issue is the shoulder pads on the arms, they prevent you from getting the arms up all the way.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - It's Captain America, what else should he have come with besides his shield?

DURABILITY 5/5 - The plastic is strong and I don’t see any signs of it breaking on my figure.

OVERALL SCORE 4.6/5 - It’s a nice figure. Some people do not like the look of the figures from the game. I don’t mind them that much. He doesn’t come with any Build-A-Figure pieces so if you don’t want him you don’t need to pick him up at all.

RETAIL COST: $19.99 I picked mine up at my local TARGET!

TIME FOR SOME TOYING AROUND!!
