Toying Around Reviews - Marvel Legends: House of X Wolverine

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

Today we will be taking a look at Wolverine from the House of X Marvel Legends line. In House of X, Charles Xavier reveals his master plan for mutantkind, one that will bring mutants out of the shadow of mankind and into the light once more. The Marvel Legends Series is a lower-tier toy line that both collectors and non-collectors alike would be interested in. This is an action figure line based on the characters of Marvel Comics, initially produced by Toy Biz, then by Hasbro. This line is in the 6-inch (150 mm) scale, with spin-off lines in the 4-inch (100 mm), 8-inch (200 mm), and 12-inch (300 mm) scale. these figures tend to look good inside and outside the box.

PACKAGING: Before we open this up, let's take a look at the packaging.

Wolverine comes packed in the stranded Marvel Legends Series box. The top of the box has the Build-A-Figure logo, this wave is for Tri-Sentinel, The Legends Series logo is right below it. Wolverine is displayed in the middle through the large window that showcases the figure as well as the accessories. This gives great visibility to collectors that may not be opening it. On the bottom of the box, you have the House of X logo as well as Wolverine’s name done in Krakoan, Krakoan is the language of the mutants. On the left side of the box, we get some artwork of Wolverine coming at you. On the back of the box, we have a picture of Wolverine as well as a small bio. The bottom of the box shows you the rest of the figures you need to complete the build-a-figure. Flipping the box to the right side now, you see we get the same artwork again.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

This wolverine has a new costume, it is more of an updated look to his older brown costume he started to use back in Uncanny X-Men #139.

ACCESSORIES: Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

Wolverine comes with a future alt head.

ARTICULATION: How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

WOLVERINE’S ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: BALL-JOINTED NECK - allows you to turn the head 360 degrees.

BUTTERFLY HING - This allows you to move the shoulder area front and back to get a better range of motion.

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

DOUBLE-JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm over 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - This allows you to turn his wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs.

WAIST SWIVEL - This lets you be able to turn the figure around 360 degrees at the waist.

BALL JOINTED LEGS - With this it allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

UPPER THIGH SWIVEL - The leg can rotate around a full 360 degrees.

DOUBLE-JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure.

HINGED ANKLES WITH ROCKERS - The ankle hinge allows you to bend the foot front and back. The rockers allow you to rock the ankles towards the outside and inside of the legs of the figure.

SIZE COMPARISON: How does the size of this figure compare to others?

Wolverine stands right at 6 inches tall. Here is Wolverine standing next to the Mezco X-force Wolverine and then two other Marvel Legend Wolverines.

RATING: What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 4/5 - The paint job overall is good, My copy does have a few paint defects here and there.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - This sculpt they made for Wolverine a few years ago is perfect for him, he is small and stubby and fits right in where he should.

POSING 5/5 - No issues at all getting Wolverine to stand or do any pose that you want to get him in.

ACCESSORIES: 3/5 - He only comes with a future Wolverine head and that’s it. He could have come with an unmasked head, and some extra hands without the claws popping out, just a few extra things would have been nice.

DURABILITY 4/5 - The plastic is nice and solid, I do always worry about the claws coming out and losing on since they are not 100% secure in the hand.

OVERALL SCORE 4.2/5 - Yes, this is just another Wolverine repaint, but if you want to keep your Wolverine costume collection going then he is a must-have.

RETAIL COST: $19.99 I PICKED MINE UP AT MY FROM HASBRO.
