Toying Around Reviews - Mezco Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Green Ranger

Updated: Nov 7, 2023

This week we will check out the new Green Ranger figure from Mezco. This figure is based on how he looked in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show. Mezco Toyz is an American company that makes action figures and other collectibles based on original and licensed properties. One of the popular products is the cult hit toy line Living Dead Dolls. The more popular line is its One:12 line, which has licenses to popular brands such as Marvel, DC, and Godzilla.

PACKAGING:

Before we open this up, let's check out the packaging.

Green Ranger comes in a standard mezco-style square box. This box is green with the Green Ranger name at the top. artwork of the Green Ranger is in the middle of the box with him standing in front of the Dragon coin. Turning the box to the side we get the Power Rangers logo and the Dragon coin. The back of the box gives us the same artwork as the front only this time a little more zoomed in as well as the Power Rangers logo. The other side of the box again gives us the Power Rangers logo and the Dragon Coin.

INSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's take a look at how the figure comes packed inside.

The Green Ranger and all his accessories come packed in two clam shells.

OUTSIDE OF THE BOX:

Let's open the box and take a closer look at the figure.

Taking Green Ranger out of his plastic prison we get to see how nice and bright the Dragon shield is. We also get to see all the details that they got correct, like the white on the helmet around the teeth on the visor, they even added the little latches on the side of the helmet. The boots even have the zippers running down the boots. The fabric on the figure really makes it look like we are looking at a person in the suit and not just an action figure. Apparently they achieved this by putting two layers of fabric on the figure.

ACCESSORIES:

Let's see what kind of accessories the figure comes with.

The Green Ranger comes with a ton of accessories. A Tommy unmasked head, Twelve interchangeable hands (left and right fists, two pairs of left and right holding hands, three pairs of passing hands), Blade Blaster, holster for Blade Blaster, blade for Blade Blaster, Sword of Power, Sword of Darkness, Dragon Dagger, Mega Heater, Dragon Dagger blast effects, three Blade Blaster firing effects, Two Dragon Dagger lightning effects.

ARTICULATION:

How can we pose the figure? Let's find out!

THE GREEN RANGERS' ARTICULATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

MUSHROOM PEGGED HEAD - This allows you to turn the head 360 degrees around

BALL-HINGED SHOULDERS - Gives the arm 360-degree rotation and also the ability to raise and lower the arm.

UPPER BICEP SWIVEL - This cut lets you turn the whole arm below the cut 360 degrees.

DOUBLE JOINTED ELBOWS - This allows you to bend the arm about 90 degrees.

SWIVEL HINGE WRISTS - It allows you to be able to turn the figure's wrists in a full 360-degree circle while also bending them up and down.

AB CRUNCH - This cut lets you be able to bend the figure front and back at the Abs

BALL JOINTED LEGS - This allows the legs to move out to the side along with some front and back motion.

DOUBLE JOINTED KNEES - The joint allows you to bend the leg itself back to the butt of the figure. (mine are hard to get to move, and I feel like I will break the figure if I keep trying)

ANKLE SWIVEL - The ankle swivel lets you turn the feet a full 360 degrees.

SIZE COMPARISON:

How does the size of this figure compare to others?

This new Green Ranger stands right around 6.5 inches tall. Now, here he is next to The Green Ranger from Hasbro's Lighting Collection and The Green Ranger from Super 7.

RATING:

What are Baby Huey's scores for the figure?

PAINT JOB 5/5 - The paint on this guy is perfect, Mezco got details right that other companies haven't or refuse to get right.

FIGURE SCULPT 5/5 - This guy looks like he walked right out of the TV, it's like it's a real-life person in a suit.

POSING 4.5/5 - The only real issue, and it's a minor nitpick, is that the fabric is getting in the way of moving some of the joints. Sometimes, the upper bicep is very hard to move with the fabric around it. I feel like I'm going to rip it sometimes. You just have to take your time moving and posing this guy.

ACCESSORIES: 5/5 - He comes with so much stuff, I don't know how you could want any more accessories!

DURABILITY 5/5 - The figure itself feels nice, there are no issues at all.

OVERALL SCORE 4.9/5 - If you are a Power Rangers fan, Green Ranger fan or a Jason David Frank fan then you owe it to yourself and get this guy

RETAIL COST: $99.99
