Toying Around Reviews - Top Ten of 2020

Updated: Feb 11, 2023

So another year has come and gone, and even though for some of us this past year hasn’t been the best It has been a very good year for Toys and Action Figures. I just want to thank you all for all the love and support you all give me, this would not be possible if not for all of you so thank you! I hope you enjoy, Cant wait to see you next year!

#10 - Star Wars Black Series: The Child

Coming in at #10 we have the Star Wars Black Series: The Child, or as he is known now, Grogu. This was a fun little figure, the only downside to him is that he can’t hold anything he comes with.

#9 - Marvel Legends X-Men 20th Anniversary: Deadpool

The movie Deadpool takes the #9 spot. This has been a figure we have all been waiting for since the 1st Deadpool movie. Awesome to finally have it in the collection now.

#8 - Marvel Legends: Black Widow

Taking the #8 spot we have the Black Widow Movie figure. Unfortunately, due to 2020, we have yet to see the movie yet. The figure itself though is the best Black Widow figure, Movie or comic-based, that we have ever gotten and the photo-real print just takes it up a few more notches.

#7 - G.I. JOE Classified Series: Duke

Duke takes the #7 spot. Personally growing up I was a big G.I. Joe fan. So at long last getting a 6-inch scale figure is a dream come true. A lot of fans must feel the same way I do because this year this line was one of the hardest to get in retail and online.

#6 - DC Multiverse Arkham Asylum: The Joker

Arkham Joker comes in at #6, for me, this Joker looks just how he did in the game. Yes, McFarlane did take some liberties as he does with all his figures, but the overall look is just perfect to me.

#5 - TMNT Movie: Shredder

The Shredder from the classic TMNT movie comes in at #5. NECA did an amazing job on this guy. He looks like he came right out of the movie. and the removable faceplate and cape just add everything to him.

#4 - Masters of the Universe Origins: He-Man

The strongest man in the universe, He-Man comes in at #4. This new He-Man origins line to me is everything to me. He-Man was everything to me growing up. It was the must-have toy in the early 80s. I do not have my original toys anymore, mom sold them at a yard sale. So to be able to get the figures again and this time really poses him, it was a win-win for me.

#3 - TMNT Turtles In Time: Slash

Turtles in Time Slash comes in at the #3 spot. Slash is one of my favorite figures from the Turtles toys and the Archie comics growing up. So when NECA said they were doing Slash based on his look from Turtles in Time I knew I had to get him, and boy I am glad I did. The figure is amazing. Yes, he does have the video game paint deco but that doesn’t really take away at all.

#2 - DC Multiverse: Detective Comics #1000 Batman (Variant)

The Batman Variant comes in at #2. This look for Batman has always been one of my all-time favorite looks for him. So I was glad I was able to get my hands on him. Some people have said the head is too small, ok it might be but after you get him posed and on a shelf, he looks awesome. The blue and grey also make him pop!

HONORABLE MENTION

Honorable mentions go to McFarlane Action Comics #1000 Superman, Marvel Toy Box Venom, and Power Rangers Lightning Collection Zeo Gold Ranger. All 3 of these just missed getting on the list.

#1 - Marvel Legends: Stan Lee

I mean do I really have to explain myself, It’s STAN the man LEE. This figure was long overdue. Just sad that he did come out after Stan passed away, He would have loved this figure. Like he said we never came to watch the movies for the stars, we came to see him. Rest In Power Stan! EXCELSIOR!

So That’s a wrap on 2020, Thank you all again for another awesome year of toy reviews. I will see you again in 2021. ~Baby Huey
